EP 44 - Social Entrepreneurship with Carter Crockett, Ph.D.

Carter Crockett calls in from Kigali, Rwanda, where he owns and manages Karisimbi Business Partners, a consulting firm sought by business leaders to help with their strategic decision-making through providing business plans, market research, feasibility studies and more. Carter and Kristen discuss how one ends up engaged in social entrepreneurship in a small African country and how business consulting works differently in different cultures. They also explore the business environment in Rwanda during the pandemic and the exceptional role of women in Rwandan business.

Carter Crockett is originally from California, married to Kerry, and proud father of two amazing children. He is an idealistic entrepreneur who has lived on three continents, operated in over 8 sectors, and worked for over 20 employers. Originally a technology entrepreneur, Carter turned ethics scholar and professor, then social entrepreneur, and has now recently moved back to Rwanda to lead a company he started 11 years ago. In part as a result of COVID-19, Carter will unexpectedly continue in the favorite job of his career for the foreseeable future.
