Chicago employment Attorney Kristen Prinz will participate in a live webcast – hosted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) – to discuss the history of family leave policies, the relevant statutory regimes and tips on negotiating parental leave between employers and employees.

The webcast, which starts at 11 a.m. central on March 23rd, will cover a number of topics including:

  • Who is covered by the Illinois Family and Medical Leave Act and Illinois Pregnancy Accommodation Act
  • How the Illinois Department of Human Rights enforces the Illinois Pregnancy Act
  • The current efforts to expand access to parental leave

Currently, the Illinois Family and Medical Leave act only applies to employers with 50 or more employees and gives employees 12-weeks of unpaid leave. The Pregnancy Accommodation Act, however, requires nearly all employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant women – including maternity leave. Those who wish to attend the live webcast can register on ISBA’s website. Registration for ISBA members is $38 and $63 for non-members.
