Poonam Khatri is an associate with the Prinz Law Firm. Her practice focuses primarily on employment discrimination and retaliation claims, wage and hour claims, severance agreements, and physician employment contracts.
Ms. Khatri completed undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with a major in Economics and minor in South Asian Studies. She also spent a semester abroad in the United Kingdom at Lancaster University. Upon graduation, Ms. Khatri worked as a marketing analyst with a Fortune 500 Airline, where she was responsible for managing a corporate loyalty program generating over $400 million in annual revenue. Ms. Khatri was also exposed to the growing strife between labor and management, as well as other personnel issues. This experience prompted her to focus on a career in employment law.
Ms. Khatri attended DePaul University College of Law, where she was active in a number of student organizations. She served as Symposium Editor on the Journal of Women, Gender and the Law. She represented DePaul at the Philip C. Jessup Regional Moot Court Competition and was awarded 10th place for Best Brief. She also served as Secretary and Community chair of DePaul’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Throughout her law school career, Ms. Khatri has been dedicated to public service, earning the Benjamin Hooks Distinguished Public Service Award for her over 200 hours of community service, including volunteer work with the Southern Poverty Law Center. She was also awarded a number of scholarships during her time in law school, including the DePaul Law Merit Scholarship and Asian Pacific American Law Students Association Scholarships.
Ms. Khatri has significant experience in the field of Employment Law. She has interned in the litigation division of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and worked in the labor relations department of a major public school system. In addition, Ms. Khatri was a law clerk with the Prinz Law Firm where she worked closely with firm attorneys on a variety of employment law matters.
